Looking into the future and realms of fantasy.
Writing Science Fiction: What if . . . is another excellent creative writers’ guide from Aber Publishing. Initially, I found the going a little heavy but that was no doubt due to science fiction not being one of my regular subjects. It quickly became apparent that this subject requires an in-depth knowledge of physics, mathematics etc. backed up by research. Gifford explains the different types of science fiction before proceeding to the actual construction of the story and characters where ‘anything is possible’. This makes fascinating reading and much of it can be applied to other genres. Gifford explains the practicalities of getting published in detail. This is a valuable addition and essential to round off the lesson.
