Wrexham/Shropshire railway to close direct route from Wrexham to London

I had my 2 mins of fame this morning on Shropshire Radio.Joined a Twitter discussion/rant about Wrexham/Shropshire railway closing direct link from Wrexham to London. Found myself on air! If it isn't viable on money grounds it certainly is for business/commuters,tourists,etc.  Perhaps a bail out is in order like other large org. get? Updating the line might help especially as Wrexham is looking for city status again.
It doesn't make sense to put congestion charges in London, encourage users to use rail links and then make it hard to do that. How to go about paying congestion charge is another ball game anyway.
Wrexham Council have worked hard to improve business in the area and good communication links are essential. Can't go to London Book fair and back in a day as easily now!

Coming Soon. Chasing Rainbows.

'Chasing Rainbows' is cooking nicely. Book Cover now finished. Comments appreciated. We aimed to keep it simple. They say a picture says a thousand words so we decided to keep it at that.
Chasing rainbows will be available as an e-book, initially on  Amazon Kindle, and as a Perfect Bound Soft Cover. More details to follow.

Chasing Rainbows,(the sequel to Just Us Two) is the real ending to Rosie's Gold Wing story. Now, no longer able to ride, this intrepid couple finally say good-bye their Gold Wing motorbiking days but only after more adventures; this time not on a Honda Gold Wing'; this time not quite Just Us Two . . .
In this new saga they are accompanied by a hidden controller in the shape of disembodied voice with which Rosie conducts a ‘love-hate’ relationship as it threatened to make her navigating skills redundant and ruin their next big trip.
Now, ‘Ned’ has come out of the shadows and reverted to his given name, which is how he appears in this  light-hearted and often tongue in cheek story of discovery and adventures.
He also has a new toy. You know boys and their toys? It is infallible, trusty will lead them to wherever they want to go.
No stress; no trouble; no getting lost …
Take in the beauty of Ireland and Co.Mayo; the breathtaking wonder of the Andorran mountains; the awesome grandeur of the Spanish Pyrenees; Visit Versailles and Paris as Rosie chases her rainbows . . .

Global webinar experience with BookBuzzr

I have been following the on-line book marketing articles from BookBuzzr and fReado for a while now. I use their innovative widget to show excerpts from 'Just Us Two' (and soon 'Chasing Rainbows') on my website and this blog. Then when I thought it couldn't get any better, it did.
On Wednesday, I took part in a Webinar.  What is a Webinar you may ask?  Simply it is an on-line seminar.
The software was easy to use, the only ‘setting-up’ was to make sure the headphone, and microphone was working.
Freya came through from India to me in the UK as clear as a bell.  Dana Lynn Smith (Savvy Book Marketer) gave a clear and simply explained presentation on the Fundamentals of Facebook.  Slides came up on screen as she spoke.  Even though she was speaking from Texas at 8:00pmEST to our 1:00am GMT, it was just like being in the same room.  Suffice to say that even if you are an experienced user, this session was interesting and I picked up a few points.
The whole experience reminded me of my first Video Conference experience fifteen years ago when my college principal had one set up with someone in Los Angeles.  It was in its infancy then and later I was able to have a hands-on 'go ‘with another organisation.  This technology has improved somewhat and is widely used.
What was different about this webinar is that I was in my own home, using my usual desktop computer with no specialist knowledge or equipment needed.  And let's face it, working from home can be lonely; it is easy to lose touch with current and emerging developments in your chosen area; social networking provides opportunities to redress this...
The second part of the Facebook topic is this Wednesday. This is a round the table talk with a group of book specialists.  As it is at 1:00GMT I will have to exercise some degree of discipline in staying awake.  Catch up time will be Thursday when no doubt I will be like a zombie all day.

Review of Writing Science Fiction: What if . . . (Aber Writer's Guides)

Looking into the future and realms of fantasy.
Writing Science Fiction: What if . . . is another excellent creative writers’ guide from Aber Publishing. Initially, I found the going a little heavy but that was no doubt due to science fiction not being one of my regular subjects. It quickly became apparent that this subject requires an in-depth knowledge of physics, mathematics etc. backed up by research. Gifford explains the different types of science fiction before proceeding to the actual construction of the story and characters where ‘anything is possible’. This makes fascinating reading and much of it can be applied to other genres. Gifford explains the practicalities of getting published in detail. This is a valuable addition and essential to round off the lesson.

All systems go for Chasing Rainbows with Just Us Two

Watch out for the cover design for Changing Rainbows and a free sample. I will probably use Book Buzzr again as it is so interactive and I can change the excerpts. Actually, looking at the heading above I think I may have found my tag line. I have chopped and changed, dithered and debated but time to 'bite the bullet' as they say.
Chasing Rainbows is the sequel to Just Us Two: Ned and Rosie's Gold Wing Discovery and where they finally say good-bye to their Gold Wing and motorbiking years. But there is life after Gold Wings . . .
More to follow of this light-hearted and often tongue-in-cheek story of adventures and discovery, written so that you could follow their trail . . .
